As Lead Scout for Unyoked, I travelled across Australia to discover and assess remote cabin locations, ensuring each site offered both seclusion and natural beauty. It demanded a mix of creativity, technical ability, and adaptability. It required navigating remote terrain, assessing landscapes, working with land owners, and understanding how to design and build sustainably within natural environments. Strong logistical planning and coordination were essential—balancing access, installation, and environmental sensitivity. Combining practical carpentry and off-grid construction skills with design intuition, I learned to create spaces that feel seamlessly embedded in the landscape, inviting calm, simplicity, and connection to nature.
